The next animation by Director Bong Joon-ho has unveiled stills for the very first time.

On April 3 (based on Korean time), the U.S. media outlet ‘Variety’ reported on Director Bong Joon-ho’s production of the next work, 〈Ally〉 (Ally). In that article, stills from 〈Ally〉 were released for the first time, drawing attention.

〈Ally〉 is the first feature-length animation directed by Director Bong Joon-ho, and it is said to be set in the deep-sea ecosystem. According to this report, 〈Ally〉 tells the story centered on a baby squid that lives in the deep sea of the South Pacific. It is expected to be an adventure film filled with the deep-sea exploration Ally goes through as she longs to rise to the surface and appear in documentaries.

〈Ally〉 features Kim Jae-hyung, who worked with Director Bong Joon-ho on ‘Toy Story 4’ and ‘Inside Out,’ as the animation supervisor, while Director Yoo Jae-seon, who directed ‘Sleep,’ joins as a co-writer. Production is underway with a goal of releasing in the first half of 2027.
