Actress Bae Doona has been appointed as a judge for the competition section of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), one of the top three film festivals in the world. This marks the third time a Korean filmmaker has taken a seat on the Berlin jury, following actress Lee Young-ae in 2006 and director Bong Joon-ho in 2015.
On the 28th (local time), the Berlin Film Festival organizing committee officially announced the list of the 76th international jury, which includes Bae Doona. She will collaborate with the renowned German director Wim Wenders, who is the jury president for this festival. They will be responsible for selecting the winners of the festival's highest honors, the Golden Bear and Silver Bear.
This year's Berlin Film Festival will also highlight the achievements of Korean cinema. Hong Sang-soo's new film 'The Day She Returned' has been invited to the Panorama section, while Jung Ji-young's 'My Name Is' has been invited to the Forum section. Yoo Jae-in's feature debut 'On the Way to Erasure' will also meet global audiences in the Generation 14plus section.

The international jury that will lead the selection for Berlin 2026 consists of a total of 7 members. Led by jury president Wim Wenders (Germany), the jury includes Reinaldo Marcus Green (USA), Bae Doona (Korea), Shivendra Singh Dungarpur (India), HIKARI (Japan), Min Bahadur Bham (Nepal), and Ewa Puszczyńska (Poland).
The 76th Berlin International Film Festival will be held from February 12 to 22, and the winners among the 22 works in the competition section will be announced on the 21st, the day before the closing, at the Berlin Palast.
