Kim Soo-hyun’s Agency Announces Referral to Prosecutors of Impostors Posing as Late Kim Sae-ron’s Family and YouTubers

Kim Soo-hyun, who was recently cleared of wrongdoing, shared an update on people involved in the controversy.

Related parties referred to prosecutors; investigation findings announced Goldmedalist, the agency of actor Kim Soo-hyun, issued an official statement on Oct. 26. The statement outlined the results of police investigations into several complaints and accusations filed against people involved in the controversy surrounding Kim Soo-hyun, including individuals who posed as the family of the late Kim Sae-ron and as the deceased actress’s aunt.

Impostors posing as family members and all those involved in fabrications face severe punishment According to the statement, alleged accomplices, including people who posed as the late actress’s mother and aunt, face charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation by stating false information), violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (distributing footage filmed using cameras or other devices), and attempted coercion. The agency also said police separately opened an investigation into an alleged accomplice who was not initially included in the complaint. Lawyer Boo Ji-seok, who represented the deceased actress’s family, and Kwon Young-chan, operator of the YouTube channel “Kwon Young-chan TV,” were also referred to prosecutors after criminal allegations against them were substantiated. They had led two press conferences using false and fabricated materials confirmed by investigators, including altered KakaoTalk messages and AI-manipulated audio.
