BTS Lands in Singapore for Longest-Ever Single-Artist Run of 'THE CITY'

First in Southeast Asia to host the event, Singapore showcases its capabilities as the entire city becomes an immersive experience

The group BTS will bathe downtown Singapore in its signature colors and stories throughout December. Big Hit Music said on the 19th that it will hold THE CITY ARIRANG (hereafter THE CITY), an in-person fan event, across Singapore from Dec. 1 to 31.

THE CITY is an immersive, multifaceted project that goes beyond concerts, bringing an artist's history and themes into urban spaces and reimagining the city as a vast theme park. It has previously been held successfully in major cities around the world, starting with Seoul and including Las Vegas and London, drawing an enthusiastic response from fans worldwide.

The Singapore event will run for 31 days, making it the longest-running THE CITY project to date. It was planned to mark BTS' ARIRANG World Tour concerts in Singapore, scheduled for December. Major local landmarks, including National Gallery Singapore, the National Museum of Singapore and Resorts World Sentosa, will serve as key venues.

The Singapore Tourism Board expressed high hopes for the project. A board representative called it “the largest citywide project ever undertaken in partnership with a single artist,” adding that “hosting THE CITY for the first time in Southeast Asia demonstrates Singapore's outstanding infrastructure and capabilities in successfully attracting and hosting major global intellectual property (IP).”

Meanwhile, BTS' highly anticipated solo concerts in Singapore will take place at the National Stadium on Dec. 17, 19, 20 and 22, for a total of four shows. The mega-event, combining the concerts with the city's infrastructure, is expected to generate substantial synergies for year-end tourism and economic activity in Singapore.
