BTS’s Busan show—the first stop of their first world tour held after completing the military hiatus—made it clear just how big they are, selling out all tickets right after tickets went on sale and proving their status as a bona fide “21st-century pop icon.”
■ Sold Out Completely in Presales Only… From Goyang to Busan, a “Perfect Sold Out”
On the 30th, their agency Big Hit Music announced that tickets for BTS’s world tour ‘ARIRANG’ Busan concerts, scheduled for June 12–13 at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium, sold out completely.
The fan-club presale conducted through the online ticketing platform NOL on the 29th saw an overwhelming surge in access, sparking a fierce “ticketing war.” Building on the complete sellouts for the three Goyang shows that began on the 9th, BTS continued the run of sellouts through the Busan concerts as well, demonstrating their undeniable ticket power.
■ Busan, the Land of Promises… “Meet Again on the Last Stage Before Enlistment”
This Busan concert holds special meaning for both the members and the fans. The Busan Asiad Main Stadium where the show will take place is the same venue where BTS held their final full-group performance (a concert to commemorate the 2030 Busan World Expo bid) back in October 2022, ahead of their military enlistment.
Returning to this stage again after about three years and eight months is expected to become a symbolic moment: after all members complete their mandatory military service, it will mark the start of their true “second act.” In particular, June 13, the second day of the performances, is the 13th anniversary of the team’s debut—an expected historic moment when members and fans gather in one place to celebrate both their return and the anniversary at the same time.
■ ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG’… The Entire City of Busan Turns Purple
BTS will also carry out the ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG’ project, spreading the concert’s energy across the whole city. Offline fan events are set to take place throughout Busan from June 5 to June 21.
During this period, major landmarks around Busan will feature a variety of activities using BTS’s IP, including exhibitions, pop-up stores, theme hotels, and fountain shows. With visits from large numbers of overseas fans expected, the Busan Metropolitan Government is ramping up preparations for ARMY, including checking lodging and transportation infrastructure.
An official in the music industry said, “This world tour by BTS is more than just concerts—it’s a signal flare announcing the full-scale comeback of K-pop,” adding, “The narrative of standing on a stage that feels like home on their debut anniversary maximizes fans’ collective drive.”
