27th Jeonju International Film Festival: Actor Shin Hyun-jun and Actress Go Won-hee Selected as Hosts for the Opening Ceremony!

The 27th Jeonju International Film Festival opening ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29 at the Moak Hall of the Jeonju Culture & Arts Center. Kicking off with the arrival of red-carpet guests, it will mark the grand start with an official opening declaration and celebratory performances, followed by the introductions of “J Special: This Year’s Programmer” and the judging panels by category. The opening film will be screened: 〈My Private Arts Artist〉 by director Kent Jones.

This year’s opening ceremony will welcome the audience together as actors Shin Hyun-jun and Go Won-hee take on the role of hosts. Shin Hyun-jun, a seasoned actor with a wide acting spectrum regardless of genre, and Go Won-hee, an actor who is rapidly rising thanks to her solid acting skills—this pairing will add fresh energy to the festival and promises a unique kind of synergy for the ceremony’s proceedings.

Shin Hyun-jun, a professor in the Department of Acting Arts at Induk University and also an actor, since debuting with 〈The Son of the General〉(1990), has established himself as a guaranteed box-office draw by showcasing comedic acting in a variety of works such as 〈The Family’s Crisis〉(2005) and 〈Barefoot Gi-bong〉(2006). He has also proven his unmatched acting chops that seamlessly blend charisma and comedy through dramas like 「Stairway to Heaven」(2003) and 「Ironing Family」(2024). In addition, he has been a standout performer even on variety shows, communicating easily and warmly with the public through programs such as 「Rural Police」(2017) and 「Welcome to Bulo Village」(2024). Notably, he has been attending the red carpet for the Jeonju International Film Festival in 2024 and 2025 in succession, continuing his connection to the festival—so expectations are especially high for his clever hosting at this year’s opening ceremony.

Stepping in as co-host, actress Go Won-hee is a highly skilled performer who has drawn attention from critics through films such as 〈A Girl Full of Wrath〉(2018), 〈Merry Christmas, Mr. Mo〉(2017), and 〈The Comic〉(2024). She has delivered lively performances, bringing characters to life in dramas such as 「King the Land」(2023) and 「Okay, Kwang Sisters!」(2021). More recently, she made a striking impression as the role of the home shopping host “Song Ye-na” in the drama 「There’s No Next Life」(2025). Having attended the Jeonju International Film Festival opening ceremonies in 2016 and 2017 as well, it’s been a while since she last visited Jeonju—so her bright, distinctive energy and polished atmosphere are expected to bring new momentum to the ceremony.

Unveiling the hosts for the opening ceremony, the 27th Jeonju International Film Festival is scheduled to be held from Wednesday, April 29 to Friday, May 8 in and around the Film Street and across the Jeonju city area.
