Actor Im Su-jeong will make her producing debut with 〈The Second Child〉, which is set for a nationwide theatrical release in July. Distributor Thunder Film released the first production stills on July 1.
〈The Second Child〉 is the new film from director Yu Eun-jeong, who directed The Night's Door Opens. The mystery follows Su-an, a girl who wakes from a three-year coma after falling from a rooftop. As she confronts a changed mother, Geum-ok, she meets a mysterious girl named Jae-in, who bears the face of Su-ryeon, Su-an’s dead sister, and together they begin to unravel the secrets of a "shadow fairy tale." The film was invited to and screened in the Vision section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival.
The project attracted early interest because it marks Im Su-jeong’s first producing credit as well as a starring role. Im Su-jeong plays Geum-ok, a mother coping with the loss of a loved one and the resulting grief and anxiety, and she portrays the character’s complex psychological shifts.
The role of Su-an is played by child actress Park So-yi, while the mysterious girl Jae-in—who shares the face of the dead sister—is played by actress Yuna. The two actors portray the evolving relationship between characters confronting a changed world and hidden secrets after Su-an’s coma.
〈The Second Child〉 was produced by Dalligi Film with co-production participation from Oasis Studio. The film has finished post-production and is scheduled to open in July.
