Cheongwadae has reinvented itself as the heart of K-culture, a dazzling turning point

Cheongwadae Sarangchae has fully transformed from a mere viewing space into a ‘K-content outpost’ that sends the essence of South Korean culture to the world. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold the special exhibition ‘Osaekchanlan: Full of K, by Region’ at the first floor of Sarangchae through Dec. 31. It is a setting that proves in a three-dimensional and sensory way how Korea’s unique historical and cultural arts assets have evolved into ‘Global K-content’ that commands attention around the globe.

The aesthetics of 5 sectors, 3 specialties—traditional breathing awakens through media art

At the core of the exhibition is the rediscovery of regional content. Centered on the ‘5 sectors and 3 specialties’ regions, each area’s performances, food, crafts, and tourism resources are reinterpreted with sharp modern perspectives. In particular, circular symbolic metaphors representing Korea—traditional patterns, gat (traditional headwear), peonies, and tigers—are brought to life as an overwhelming ‘immersive media art’, delivering an awe-inspiring, immersive aesthetic experience for visitors.

A sensorial detour on Wednesdays, an art extravaganza echoing through Cheongwadae

Every Wednesday at 12:10 p.m., Sarangchae turns into a giant concert hall. On the 10th, the ‘Culture Day’ event kicks off with a blazing performance by the gifted vocalist ‘Ko Young-yeol’, followed by a rich ensemble shaped by young artists and local arts groups. Amid the routine of everyday life, it is a time to experience the most elegant and dynamic artistic detour.

The other side of summit diplomacy, the trajectories of light—one year’s record turned into history

On the second floor’s planning exhibition room, the special exhibition ‘Trajectories of Light’ commemorating the first anniversary of the government’s launch welcomes visitors. Over the past year, South Korea’s record of policy achievements and the intense log of summit diplomacy conducted through K-culture—along with the diplomatic gifts behind it—are unveiled for the first time. Also near the souvenir shop on the first floor, a ‘Digital Goods Experience Exhibition’ is set for June to mark the first anniversary of the presidential inauguration, expanding the venue for synesthetic communication.

Detailed exhibition information is available on the official Cheongwadae Sarangchae website (https://cwdsarangchae.kr).
