⬦ 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' Director Maggie Kang Receives Order of Cultural Merit for Contributions to K-Culture Expansion

Maggie Kang, director of the Netflix animation 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉, has been selected as a recipient of the Order of Cultural Merit. She was recognized for her contributions to promoting K-Culture and K-Pop worldwide and driving the export of related industries.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency held the '2025 Korea Content Awards Ceremony' on the afternoon of the 10th at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul, awarding government prizes and certificates to 24 individuals and 15 outstanding works that contributed to the development of the content industry.

This award ceremony introduced a new category for contributions to the development of the content industry, in addition to the existing categories for overseas expansion, broadcasting and video industry development, and game industry development, resulting in a total of 24 awardees across four categories.

Director Maggie Kang was recognized for her significant contributions to the overseas expansion of K-Culture, K-Pop, and related industries by directing 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉, which is regarded as the most popular animation in Netflix history, and thus received the cultural medal.

In the broadcasting and video industry development category, Director Kim Won-seok of Baram Pictures, who directed the Netflix drama 〈When Life Gives You Tangerines〉, and Writer Park Ji-eun, who wrote 〈Queen of Tears〉, received cultural awards.

In the overseas expansion category, President's Commendation was awarded to CEO Park Young-seok of Fan Entertainment and CEO Yoon Hyun-jun of Studio Slam. In the broadcasting and video industry development category, writer Mo Eun-seol of the Korea Broadcasting Writers Association received the award, while in the game industry development category, CEO Kim Hyung-tae of Shift Up and Vice President Park Jeong-moo of Nexon Korea received the President's Commendation.

⬦ Minister of Culture Says "Comprehensive Support for the Content Industry"... Awards for Outstanding Works Including 'The Reader's Point of View'

In the outstanding works category, a total of 15 works were selected across three fields: comics, animation, and characters. The comic 「The Reader's Point of View」 and the animation 〈King of Kings〉 received the President's Award, while in the character category, 'Dalnim' received the honor of the President's Award.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwi-young stated, "We will spare no effort in providing comprehensive support so that our content industry can continuously leap forward to the world."
