Jung I-seo plays a mysterious figure in Netflix's 〈Notes from the Last Row〉, adding a cold edge to the suspense drama.
The suspense drama follows failed writer and Korean literature professor Heo Mun-oh (Choi Min-sik) after he discovers the genius of Lee Kang (Choi Hyun-wook), a student who sits in the last row of his lecture hall, and becomes obsessed with his writing. In the series, Jung I-seo plays Kim Jeong-hu, a university peer of Lee Kang and the older sister of Kim Se-yoon (Lee Jin-woo), a friend who appears in Lee Kang's writing. Notably, she is the daughter of star writer Kim Su-hoon (Heo Jun-ho), whose success left Heo Mun-oh with a lifelong sense of inferiority, and she has inherited her father's writing talent.
On screen, Kim Jeong-hu makes a striking first impression with an uncanny air that seemed to see through every situation, immediately drawing viewers' attention. She shares believable sibling chemistry with her younger brother, Kim Se-yoon, and as the secrets surrounding their father are gradually revealed, she reveals a colder, harder side that raises the drama's tension. Jung I-seo portrays the character's layered psychology with precision — from restrained, interior performances that communicate with her brother through looks while suppressing intense emotion, to a cool, chilling charisma as she harshly pressures her younger brother to keep the secret.
After her previous Netflix series 'Wonderfools,' Jung I-seo builds another richly drawn character in 〈Notes from the Last Row〉. The performance underscored her steady range and raised expectations for her next steps.
