Coupang Play released character stills of Kim Hye-soo and Kim Ji-hoon on July 7 ahead of the July 31 premiere of its original series 《Adultery Isn't the Problem Now》, directed by Lee Chang-hee and written by Jung Eun-kyung and Park Su-rin.
《Adultery Isn't the Problem Now》 is a black comedy about a popular influencer couple who project the image of a happy family and a neighboring doctor couple locked in a bitter divorce battle, all of whom become entangled in a secret bigger than an affair.
The newly released stills show contrasting sides of the two actors playing the influencer couple. Kim Hye-soo’s character, Kyung-hee, is a self-made interior design company CEO and a trendsetting influencer who exudes sophistication, yet behind her glamorous life she gives off a chilling air when lost in thought in unfamiliar spaces. Kim Ji-hoon, who plays Kyung-hee’s younger husband Jae-hong, is also shown enjoying a leisurely life in a luxury residential area before recoiling in shock after witnessing an unexpected scene late at night, hinting at a dramatic turn.
After working together on set, the two actors praised each other's chemistry. Kim Hye-soo said, "At some point, when I looked at the monitor, he was Jae-hong himself. I was so thrilled to see a new side of Kim Ji-hoon." Kim Ji-hoon replied, "Kim Hye-soo always comes prepared with performances that go beyond the script, so every time we worked together it created greater synergy."
The series is directed by Lee Chang-hee, who helmed the dramas 《Sarinja Onan-gam》 and 《Strangers from Hell》. Production involved Firstman Studio, led by 《Squid Game》 director Hwang Dong-hyuk and producer Kim Ji-yeon.
The Coupang Play series 《Adultery Isn't the Problem Now》, starring Kim Hye-soo, Jo Yeo-jung, Kim Ji-hoon and Kim Jae-chul, will premiere exclusively on Coupang Play at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 31.
