Ryu Seung-ryong, Ha Ji-won film 〈Bi-gwang〉 unveils teaser trailer

〈Miss Baek〉 director Lee Ji-won tells the grim redemption story of a star couple and Jung-gu's daughter

The film 〈Bi-gwang〉 has released a teaser trailer that sets up its intense storyline ahead of its Sept. 2 release.

According to distributors Playgram and Content Geo on Aug. 21, 〈Bi-gwang〉 is a family chronicle about Jung-gu (Ryu Seung-ryong), once part of a glamorous star couple with Nam-mi (Ha Ji-won). Jung-gu and Nam-mi's marriage collapses after the sudden appearance of Jung-gu's daughter Dong-joo (Kim Si-ah). The story then follows their efforts, eight years later, to uncover the truth and save Dong-joo after she becomes entangled in a shocking incident. Lee Ji-won, who previously explored a weighty story of redemption in 〈Miss Baek〉, wrote and directed.

The teaser opens with Jung-gu at the scene of a middle school girl's death at Urimcheon. Dong-joo, who has been named a prime suspect, utters a guilt-stricken confession — "It’s my fault she died" — ratcheting up the tension. A warm flashback intercuts, showing Jung-gu giving Dong-joo a pair of shoes and saying, "Do you know what day this is? The day you and I met," creating a stark contrast with the perilous present.

In the clip’s final moments, Nam-mi’s resolute voice — "Win by any means. And save her" — is heard over a scene of Jung-gu grabbing Dong-joo’s hand and running, underscoring how desperately they are fighting to protect her.

The film 〈Bi-gwang〉, featuring an ensemble that includes Ryu Seung-ryong, Ha Ji-won and Kim Si-ah alongside seasoned actors Kim Hae-sook, Kim Sun-young and Kim Young-min, opens on Sept. 2.
