Member ‘Hong Eun-chae’ of the global K-pop group ‘LE SSERAFIM’ (LE SSERAFIM) takes the mound in Japan’s professional baseball (NPB), proving overwhelming local popularity.

According to Sour Music, her agency, on the 22nd, ‘Hong Eun-chae’ will step onto the mound as a first-pitch thrower for the regular-season matchup between the Chiba Lotte Marines and the Seibu Lions at Jozo Marine Stadium in Chiba Prefecture on Sept. 5. This goes beyond a simple event appearance and points to ‘LE SSERAFIM’’s firmly established popular standing in Japan.

‘Hong Eun-chae’ said, “I’m extremely honored to be in charge of my first first pitch in Japan,” adding, “Even with the hot weather, I’ll give the fans who came to the stadium bright energy and a lively, dynamic sense of enjoyment.”

This is the second time he has taken the mound, having long declared himself an avid baseball fan since childhood. Previously, last March, he drew attention from sports fans by delivering a perfect first pitch at Doosan Bears’ home game in the KBO League. His move, taking on Japanese pro baseball after Korea, also confirms his unique level of buzz spanning both countries.
