Danny Boyle’s Ink Confirmed for Release in South Korea This September After Being Named the Opening Film of the Venice Film Festival

Ink, selected as the opening film for the Venice Film Festival, has been confirmed for release in South Korea.

The film 〈Ink〉, directed by Danny Boyle, who helmed 〈Trainspotting〉 and 〈28 Days Later〉, was recently named the opening film of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Set in the midst of a major shift in the media landscape, 〈Ink〉 tells the story of a tabloid’s startling birth. It was confirmed for a South Korea release on July 27.

Starring Jack O’Connell, Guy Pearce, Claire Foy, and others, the film tells the story of the creation of the British newspaper 'The Sun,' which has been published for more than 60 years, and captures the atmosphere of 1969. Based on the eponymous play by James Graham, the screenplay was adapted by James Graham himself. After its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, it will also meet audiences at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival as a Special Presentation. With both schedules wrapped up, it appears the film will be released to the general public after late September.

Danny Boyle said, "I’ve visited the Venice International Film Festival many times, but this is the first time I’ve attended, and it’s a great honor." He added, "I became determined to direct after being captivated by James Graham’s outstanding screenplay, which explores the birth of new journalism that changed the world alongside the moon landing in 1969."
