'The Guest,' 'Voice' Director Kim Hong-sun Returns With Netflix's 'Mousetrap' Starring Ryu Jun-yeol

Netflix's new original series 〈Mousetrap〉 (Mousetrap, directed by Kim Hong-sun, written by Lee Jae-gon) will be released simultaneously worldwide at 5 p.m. on August 28. The 10-episode series is Kim Hong-sun's latest project and is expected to draw attention from thriller fans.

〈Mousetrap〉 is a mystery chase thriller that follows novelist Mun Jae, who has had his name, face and life stripped away by a mysterious entity known only as the "Deuljwi"; loan shark No-ja, who is trying to recover lost money; and detective Sun-yong, who digs into the case as they pursue the true identity of the "Deuljwi." Inspired by the classic folktale "If a mouse eats a fingernail, it becomes human," the series explores the real anxieties and suspense of people living alone in modern society. It is based on the eponymous Kakao Webtoon by writer Ludovico.

Director Kim Hong-sun, who directed the dramas 〈The Guest〉 and 〈Voice〉, the Netflix series 〈Tangeum〉 and 〈Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area〉, described the new series as "a harrowing pursuit thriller about a person whose life is stolen in an instant." He added, "I concentrated on portraying, with intensity, the psychology of characters who are both fleeing and pursuing." Lee Jae-gon wrote the script. His previous credits include the Netflix series 〈A Model Family〉 and the drama 〈Special Affairs Team TEN〉.

The Netflix series 〈Mousetrap〉, starring Ryu Jun-yeol, Seol Kyung-gu and Lee Kyu-hyung, will be available on Netflix on August 28.
