'JYP Entertainment' has unveiled ambitious new girl group 'OURBIRTHDAY', its first new girl group in four years since NMIXX, marking the group's arrival in the K-pop scene. The group held a showcase on the 19th at Blue Square in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of its debut single, 'Our Birthday,' and began its push for this year's 'Rookie of the Year' award.

'OURBIRTHDAY' is the first girl group launched by JYP subsidiary 'INNIT Entertainment.' The seven-member multinational group is led by Cho Hye-jin, winner of the KBS 2TV audition program 'The Ddanddara,' and Shin Hye-won, who stood out on JTBC's 'R U Next?' The lineup also includes Guk Cho-rok, Yu, Baby, Achiraya and Kirara. The group name captures the dynamic energy of enjoying every moment as if each day were a birthday, reflecting a philosophy of redefining ordinary life with an original color. Leader Cho Hye-jin said, "I feel an overwhelming excitement because this is the debut we've looked forward to for so long," adding, "We will prove the unparalleled performance that every member prepared for with grit."

Group Rejects Labels and Takes Aim at K-Pop With Funky Dance Track

The title track 'SQUEEZY' is a punk-based dance song with an intensely addictive sound. Its straightforward message is to squeeze out and shake off complicated emotions and stress without leaving anything behind. The debut single contains four tracks, including 'SQUEEZY,' the intro track 'Our Birthday,' which shares the single's name, and 'HUNGRY,' raising the bar for the group's musical finish. Member Yu cited advice from executive producer Park Jin-young, saying, "Following his advice to always get along, we respect one another when disagreements arise and are building our teamwork." Achiraya, a member from Thailand, also stressed, "The pressure of coming from a major agency is immense, but we will use it as motivation to deliver perfect performances."

When reporters asked about their role models and labels, the members firmly replied, "None." Member Guk Cho-rok said, "Rather than chase a particular person, we want to leave our mark on the public through the unique identity of 'OURBIRTHDAY' itself," laying out the group's independent direction.
