Influencer Sisters Disappear as a Chilling Truth Emerges From a Former Cult Site

Actor ‘Moon Geun-young’ will return to the big screen in a leading role for the first time in ‘nine years’. She will star in ‘Yeto,’ the new film from ‘director Yeon Sang-ho.’ According to distributor Showbox’s announcement on the 21st, Moon will play Sua, the older sister who investigates the disappearance of two influencer sisters and anchors the story.

‘Yeto’ is a mystery thriller about influencer sisters who leave for a camping trip and become caught in an uncontrollable whirlpool after entering the former site of a cult. When the younger sister, Mina, disappears without a trace, a chilling truth rises to the surface. Moon’s return as a film lead comes for the first time since ‘Glass Garden’ in 2017, and the film industry is watching closely to see her dramatic acting transformation after such a long hiatus.

Kim Si-a, who delivered intense performances in ‘Miss Baek’ and ‘Kill Boksoon,’ has been cast as Mina, the missing younger sister. Go Ah-sung joins the cast as Deok-hee, a mysterious figure the sisters encounter, further strengthening the lineup. The taut on-screen chemistry among the three actors is expected to heighten the film’s tension.

The project is being co-directed by ‘director Yeon Sang-ho’ and ‘director Yoon Young-woo.’ Yoon is a promising director who built deep trust with Yeon while working as an assistant director on Netflix’s ‘Parasyte: The Grey’ and ‘Hellbound,’ among other projects. All filming has now wrapped, and the production has entered detailed post-production.

Yeon described the new film as “a fresh project that combines original visual effects with drama and ranks among the most innovative of all the projects I have directed.” He added, “Throughout filming, I could not stop marveling at the unique characters created by Moon Geun-young, Go Ah-sung and Kim Si-a and their explosive performances,” expressing his high level of satisfaction.

He added, “We will complete a top-quality film after extensive post-production.” The industry is watching to see what new paradigm ‘Yeto,’ which combines ‘visual effects (VFX)’ with a solid narrative, will present to Korean cinema.
