Actress Moon Geun-young is returning to the stage after 9 years. The production company Red and Blue announced on the 30th that Moon Geun-young has been cast in the fourth season of the play 'Orphans'. This marks her first stage appearance since 'Romeo and Juliet' in 2016, and the news of her long-awaited return to the stage has captured the audience's attention.
'Orphans' is a representative work of American playwright Lyle Kessler, depicting the story of orphan brothers 'Treat' and 'Philip' who accidentally kidnap a middle-aged Chicago gangster 'Harold' and end up living together in an old house in North Philadelphia. This work, which deals with the process of filling each other's deficiencies in an isolated space, has received critical acclaim since its domestic premiere in 2017, and this season is directed by Kim Tae-hyung, who has also directed musicals like 'Fan Letter' and 'Almond'.
This season will be conducted with a gender-free casting that breaks down gender boundaries. Moon Geun-young will play the role of the rough and violent yet sensitive older brother 'Treat', promising a bold acting transformation. The same role has also been cast with Jung In-ji, Choi Seok-jin, and Oh Seung-hoon. The gangster 'Harold', who is kidnapped by the brothers, will be played by Park Ji-il, Woo Hyun-joo, Lee Seok-jun, and Yang So-min, while the younger brother 'Philip', who is trapped under his older brother's overprotection, will be portrayed by Kim Si-yu, Kim Joo-yeon, Choi Jung-woo, and Kim Dan-i.
The play 'Orphans', which is generating excitement with the addition of Moon Geun-young, will be performed from March 10 to May 31, 2026, at TOM 1 in Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
