Global pop star Taylor Swift has donated $1 million (approximately 1.4 billion won) to the American Heart Association (AHA). This act of kindness stems from her wish for her father, Scott Swift, to recover from heart surgery, and it was revealed during the Christmas season at the end of the year.
Life-Saving Efforts Inspired by Family's Health Struggles
On the 23rd (local time), AHA released an official statement saying, "Swift's $1 million donation will be used for scientific research, strengthening prevention and treatment, and expanding access to life-saving medical care," adding, "Her family's experience with cardiovascular disease is a common case that affects half of American adults." CEO Nancy Brown emphasized, "Swift's commitment will contribute to prevention efforts and risk factor management, allowing more people to live healthy lives."
Last summer, Swift revealed through her husband Travis Kelce's podcast that her father discovered cardiovascular disease during a routine check-up and underwent quintuple bypass surgery. This donation is a continuation of that, aligning with AHA's heart disease prevention campaign.
From Ending Hunger to Supporting Musicians... The Unstoppable 'Donation Queen'
Taylor Swift's charitable actions did not stop there. On the same day, she also donated $1 million to Feeding America, a hunger relief organization in the U.S. Feeding America's CEO Claire Babino-Ponteno expressed deep gratitude, stating, "Her donation will serve as a powerful reminder in the fight against hunger."
Additionally, she continued her warm support for fellow musicians by donating to MusiCares, an organization that supports the health and welfare of the music community. The simultaneous donation news delivered during the Christmas season has greatly touched fans around the world.
