Secret deal between a third-generation chaebol heir and a manager as casting lineup is unveiled

Actors 'Song Kang' and 'Kim So-hyun' are set to bring a dangerously deceptive romance to television. The two will reunite on-screen for the first time in five years in MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama 'White Scandal', drawing widespread attention.

MBC officially confirmed production of 'White Scandal' on the 25th. The series is based on the popular webtoon of the same name. It follows a third-generation chaebol heir and top actor who refuses to become his group’s successor and a manager, formerly a promising child star, who falls from grace after an unexpected incident. The two begin a 'fake romance' to deceive the world, setting off a high-stakes story.

'Song Kang' plays 'Dan Yi-hyeok', a multidimensional character who is a flawless top star in front of the cameras but lives as a cold third-generation chaebol heir away from them. 'Kim So-hyun', meanwhile, takes on the role of 'Ji Eun-seol', a former gifted child actor who once showed great promise but fell to rock bottom and now struggles to make a living as a manager.

Their reunion, after they previously demonstrated perfect chemistry in Seasons 1 and 2 of the Netflix original series 'Love Alarm' in 2019 and 2021, respectively, is itself being viewed as a powerful guarantee of box-office success.

The production team also bolsters confidence in the project. 'Kim Ga-eun', the writer who created nuanced emotional arcs in 'Call It Love', is writing the screenplay. Director 'Kim Cheol-gyu', who has demonstrated outstanding command of multiple genres through 'Mother', 'Flower of Evil' and 'Celebrity', will helm the series, raising expectations for a finely crafted romance.
