'Deep Water' Director Renny Harlin Shares Powerful Message With Korean Audiences Ahead of Sept. 9 Release

Director Renny Harlin has shared a message with Korean audiences awaiting 〈Deep Water〉.

The film 〈Deep Water〉 is the latest from Renny Harlin, the director who delivered action thrills with 〈Die Hard 2〉 and 〈Deep Blue Sea〉. It is set to meet Korean audiences on Sept. 9. Ahead of the release, Harlin shared written behind-the-scenes stories about 〈Deep Water〉 along with a message for Korean audiences.

Introducing 〈Deep Water〉 through its "20-minute plane crash sequence, the most realistically portrayed in film history and unprecedented in its scale," Harlin highlighted what makes the film unique. He said that, as in 〈Deep Blue Sea〉, the sharks in his latest film are portrayed "as creatures that hunt simply to survive, and as part of the natural world whose habitat, the ocean, has been invaded by humans." He added that the film will show audiences a side of real sharks they have never seen before.

Harlin also shared this heartfelt message with Korean audiences: "I hope this film changes your perspective, even if only slightly. When you leave the theater after the film ends, I want you to feel something powerful, rather than simply having enjoyed the spectacle. I sincerely hope the feeling stays with you for a long time—the desire to immediately wrap your arms around your family and loved ones, and a deep appreciation for every moment of our fleeting lives." 〈Deep Water〉 opens Sept. 9.
