The triumphant return of the top-grossing foreign film in Korean history — and the arrival of a new hidden villain
Marvel Studios' 'Avengers: Endgame', which set a record as the highest-grossing foreign film ever released in South Korea, is set to take over theaters once again. The legendary film, which drew a cumulative audience of '13.93 million' and ranks as the sixth highest-grossing film in Korean history, will return to audiences under a new title.
Walt Disney Company Korea, the film's distributor, said it will release 'Avengers: Endgame Encore' on 'Sept. 23', adding previously unreleased exclusive footage to the original film. The biggest question surrounding the rerelease is whether it will include exclusive footage from 'Avengers: Doomsday', the new film scheduled to open in December.
Behind the sweeping saga of original Avengers members including 'Iron Man' and 'Captain America', who risked the fate of the universe in their fight against Thanos, the identity of a new ultimate evil, 'Doctor Doom', will be revealed for the first time. News that 'Robert Downey Jr.' will return as Doctor Doom has heightened interest among Marvel fans worldwide in the post-credits scene included with this encore screening.
The special screening will be held exclusively at an 'Infinity Vision-certified theater', where Disney has rigorously verified the picture and sound quality. It offers a rare opportunity to experience the full force of a blockbuster once again in a top-tier audiovisual setting.
