Lee Byung-hun reunites with ‘Squid Game’ director Hwang Dong-hyuk on ‘K.O. CLUB,’ his first film in 10 years

Actor 'Lee Byung-hun' is teaming up again with 'Hwang Dong-hyuk', the director of 'Squid Game', which took the world by storm. Production company 'Firstman Studio' officially announced on the 27th that Lee had been cast as the lead in Hwang's next film, 'K.O. CLUB', and that full-scale filming will begin in the first half of next year.

When greed collides with survival, a chilling dystopia comes to the screen

Hwang's return to the big screen, 'K.O. CLUB' (K.O. CLUB), is his first film since 'The Fortress' (2017), arriving 10 years later. The provocative acronym stands for 'Killing Oldmen Club'. Set in the near future, where money can buy and sell youth, the film meticulously depicts the brutal conflict between an aging elite that monopolizes wealth and power and a younger generation stripped of every opportunity. Hwang will direct the film and write the screenplay, giving the project a solid foundation.

The film's biggest draw is its powerhouse 'cast lineup'. Lee will work with Hwang for the third time, following 'The Fortress' and 'Squid Game', further cementing his status as the director's signature collaborator. Actor 'Park Hae-soo', who delivered a chilling performance in Season 1 of 'Squid Game', is also joining the cast, promising an explosive combination of talent.

The ensemble also features 'Oh Jung-se', widely regarded as South Korea's top 'scene-stealer', along with standout performers including 'Cho Yeo-jeong' and 'Kim So-jin'. In a dystopian world where their individual desires become intertwined, the actors are expected to bring layered characters to life and add further depth to the story.
