Heo Kyung-hwan takes solo MC role 20 years after debut with namesake talk show ‘Heo Kyung-hwan’s Trend Show’ launching May 9

Comedian Heo Kyung-hwan will meet viewers as the host of his first solo talk show bearing his own name, 20 years after his debut.

TCAST E Channel has released two teaser videos ahead of the May 9 premiere of its new talk program 〈Be Happy With Heo Kyung-hwan’s Catchphrases〉 (hereafter 〈Heo Kyung-hwan’s Trend Show〉). Instead of grand topics such as success or life, 〈Heo Kyung-hwan’s Trend Show〉 takes a contrarian approach, delving into celebrities’ mundane daily routines and unexpected habits. Under the guiding principle of treating “the most trivial first reveal in the world” with the greatest possible grandeur, the show will draw out new sides of its guests with questions they are rarely asked.

The teasers showcase the playful charm of Heo Kyung-hwan, who serves as the show’s sole MC. The first video sets up an “exclusive scoop” with a serious skit reminiscent of Ha Jung-woo in the film 〈The Terror Live〉, sparking interest. In the second video, Heo Kyung-hwan strings together his signature catchphrases to create a comic atmosphere. He also wittily mentioned that his recent bid to join tvN’s 〈You Quiz on the Block〉 as an assistant host fell through, drawing attention when he declared, “Is 〈You Quiz〉 watching? Stay nervous.”

Heo Kyung-hwan, who recently cemented his status as a leading variety-show personality by joining MBC’s 〈Hangout with Yoo?〉 as a regular cast member, is expanding his role into solo hosting with this program. NYCC, led by producer Kim Na-yeon, who planned 〈Dex’s Cold Interview〉 and other programs for TCAST E Channel, is jointly planning and producing 〈Heo Kyung-hwan’s Trend Show〉. The first episode of Heo Kyung-hwan’s first solo talk show, 〈Heo Kyung-hwan’s Trend Show〉, will be released at 6 p.m. May 9 on YouTube channel ‘ggzz,’ with new episodes planned every Wednesday at 6 p.m. thereafter.
