Look Back director Hirokazu Kore-eda, stars Natsuki Deguchi and Aju Makita set for Seoul visit Oct. 8

Hirokazu Kore-eda, director of Look Back, and lead actors Natsuki Deguchi and Aju Makita will hold events in Seoul from Oct. 8 through Oct. 10.

Look Back tells the story of two girls, Fujino and Kyomoto, who became each other’s worlds as they shared unforgettable seasons together. The Look Back team, which is set to visit Busan after the film was invited to the 31st Busan International Film Festival’s Gala Presentation section, will travel to Seoul on Oct. 8 for the film’s South Korean theatrical release and meet audiences in person.

In a greeting video released alongside the announcement, Natsuki Deguchi, who plays Fujino, said, "I’m so happy that the film’s release in South Korea has been confirmed and that I’ll be able to meet Korean fans." Aju Makita, who plays Kyomoto, also shared her thoughts ahead of the visit, saying, "I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of the film." Tickets in South Korea will go on sale Sept. 24.

The film is the first live-action adaptation of the manga one-shot of the same name by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the author of Chainsaw Man. Kore-eda handled the direction, screenplay and editing. The film has earned acclaim at international festivals, including five Independent Spirit Awards at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival and a North American premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.

Look Back, which has drawn attention ahead of Kore-eda and the actors’ visit to South Korea, opens in South Korean theaters on Oct. 8.
