Netflix draws 400 emerging creators to BIFF for largest-ever Creative Asia

400 creators poised to lead the future of K-content learn hands-on production skills

Netflix held Creative Asia at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) on the 10th, bringing together emerging creators from across Asia for global exchange and professional growth in the event's largest edition yet.

Now in its third year, Creative Asia is a leading creator-development program jointly organized by BIFF, the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet) and the Motion Picture Association (MPA). About 400 emerging filmmakers from across Asia, including South Korea, attended this year's event to share the latest trends in the global content market and practical production know-how. Attendance grew substantially from previous editions, underscoring the worldwide interest in K-content.

This year's event also introduced small-group workshop sessions for the first time to strengthen participants' practical skills, drawing an enthusiastic response. Top South Korean directors, including Han Jun-hee, director of the Netflix original series 'D.P.,' and Kang Yoon-sung, director of 'Casino,' served as mentors. They offered in-depth guidance on directing techniques that can be applied on set and on building the latest production pipelines using artificial intelligence (AI).

The event also featured sessions with global content buyers, drawing particular attention. The buyers provided emerging creators with practical business insights by walking through actual greenlight criteria, storytelling structures favored by global platforms and key elements of budget planning, using specific examples.
