The drama Ha-young filmed most recently, 〈There Is a Chance〉, looks unlikely to reach viewers anytime soon.
On October 19, several media outlets reported that SBS had left the drama 〈There Is a Chance〉 off its first-half 2027 schedule. The drama, starring Lee Je-hoon and Ha-young, was set to follow an unlikely law firm led by Kwon Baek, a former attorney turned current office manager, as it found new ways to turn seemingly unwinnable cases into winnable ones.
But controversy over Ha-young’s great-grandfather’s alleged pro-Japanese ties during filming has cast a shadow over the project’s future. 〈There Is a Chance〉, which was nearing the end of production at the time, wrapped filming without incident. However, with public backlash against Ha-young showing no sign of abating, the drama appears to have been left off its planned first-half 2027 schedule. SBS said, “Given that the project was made by a large team of staff and cast members, we are considering options from multiple angles, but no specific scheduling date has been confirmed.” For now, however, the drama looks unlikely to reach viewers anytime soon.
Ha-young also withdrew from 〈The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call〉 Season 2, which she was set to film, and suspended her activities following the controversy. Jung Ye-in has been cast as her replacement in the role of Cheon Jang-mi, and production on the drama officially began on October 19.
