‘Mother Mary’ Set for Nov. 11 Release; Character Posters for Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel Unveiled

A24’s new film 〈Mother Mary〉 (directed by David Lowery) will open Nov. 11. The film unveiled two character posters on the 20th spotlighting the striking presence of stars Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel. Plus M Entertainment and Waterhole Company, Ltd. handled importing, while TEO and Waterhole Company, Ltd. handled distribution.

〈Mother Mary〉 is a pop music thriller about an unbelievable day in the life of pop icon Mother Mary (Anne Hathaway), who is preparing for a comeback performance watched by the entire world. In search of the one dress that will complete her, she visits Sam Anselm (Michaela Coel), a designer and former friend she abandoned long ago.

The two character posters capture the contrasting allure of the pair. Anne Hathaway commands attention as a pop star whose sacred visuals and provocative gaze have captivated fans around the world, while Michaela Coel’s restrained styling and deep gaze delicately convey her character’s wounded inner life. The two once shared a deep artistic connection but were driven apart by betrayal. Anticipation is building for the emotional turmoil that will erupt when they meet again.

The film is directed by David Lowery, known for his bold filmmaking, and features an impressive soundtrack with extensive contributions from pop musicians Jack Antonoff, Charli XCX and FKA twigs. Actor Hunter Schafer also joins the cast, rounding out an appealing ensemble.
