[New Album] Balming Tiger’s Wnjn Releases Debut Solo Album ‘Mangsangrok’… 11 Tracks Explore Inner Anxieties and Offer a Rich Listening Experience

A sharp musical record that cuts into inner vulnerabilities

Wnjn, a singer-songwriter and key member of the alternative K-pop group 'Balming Tiger', will surprise-release his debut full-length album, 'Mangsangrok', on the 20th.

According to his label, CAM, the album is the result of honestly recording, like entries in a diary, the complicated thoughts that take shape in one’s mind, including anxiety over things that have not happened and self-pity. Though people today may aspire to appear nonchalant and polished, the album uses the conventions of black comedy to portray their vulnerable side: how easily they can be shaken at crucial moments. A defining feature is its incisive exploration of the gap between one’s unhidden inner thoughts and one’s ideals.

The lyrics are particularly compelling. Built on the distinctive rhythm and nuance of Korean, they freely blend expressions from different eras and cultures, including English, Japanese and 'memes'—popular online content. The album has been praised for portraying the narrator’s bravado, anxiety and self-pity in a vivid and witty way.

Led by the title track 'Yurangga', 'Mangsangrok' features 11 diverse tracks, including 'I Think of Candy' and 'Winter Prince', and is set to offer listeners a rich listening experience.
