Koyote’s Shinji Cancels KT Wiz Home-Game Celebration Performance After “Refusing First Pitch” Controversy

On Aug. 14, agency JG Star issues an official statement: “We smoothly reached an agreement with the KT Wiz organization to cancel the celebration performance in full.” On YouTube, Shinji says, “I’m a Hanwha fan, so I refused the KT first-pitch offer” — despite her later decision that appearing on the mound for the Hanwha game wasn’t proper, the misunderstanding spread. Amid online sparring, she quits on her own and apologizes: “In the future, we will take even more careful steps so there are no misunderstandings in the communication process.”
Shinji, from the K-pop and variety group Koyote, decided to abruptly cancel a celebration performance for a KT Wiz home game that was scheduled for next month, after her “refusing the first pitch” remarks during a YouTube broadcast sparked a fierce online dispute among baseball fans.
