The popular game series 'Assassin's Creed', which has continued for 17 years, is meeting Netflix.
The OTT platform Netflix announced that it is officially starting the production of the live-action series 'Assassin's Creed'. After first announcing the production plan in 2020, the live-action adaptation of 〈Assassin's Creed〉 has resurfaced after five years without significant progress. The game 'Assassin's Creed' depicts the conflict between the Templars, who seek peace by controlling humanity, and the Assassins, who oppose them. Since the first installment was released in 2007, it has incorporated various historical backgrounds and conspiracy theories into its works. The popular series has showcased not only games but also various media mixes, including a live-action film starring Michael Fassbender released in 2016.
However, due to the recent weakness of the developer Ubisoft and the accumulation of user complaints about the repetitive series, Netflix has also struggled to accelerate production for a long time after the announcement, possibly due to the momentum of the original series. Then, on July 18 (Korean time), they declared that production would officially begin by releasing a message from the main production team.
According to the report, Roberto Patino, who produced 〈Westworld〉, 〈DMZ〉, and David Wiener, who produced 〈Homecoming〉, 〈Halo〉, and 〈Brave New World〉, will lead the series as executive producers and showrunners. Additionally, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill from Ubisoft Film & Television, the original developer, are also named as executive producers.
