As the world's largest pop culture festival, San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2025 comes to a close, eight of the most anticipated films and TV series revealed at this year's event are making headlines. From a new turning point in the DC Universe to horror genre highlights and adaptations of video games, a variety of blockbuster genres are capturing the audience's attention.
'Peacemaker' Season 2: A New Turning Point in the DC Universe
Starring John Cena, 'Peacemaker Season 2' is set to premiere on August 21. This season is an important work that addresses the transition from the existing DCEU to the new DCU, depicting the story one month after the Superman incident. Given that James Gunn's previous season 1 received a score of 9/10 from IGN and was praised as 'the best so far', expectations for the sequel are high.
The footage revealed at Comic-Con gave a glimpse of how the character Chris Smith adapts to the new DC Universe, and it seems that the unique blend of action and emotional depth in storytelling will continue.
'Alien: Earth': A New Horror Set on Earth
Scheduled for release on August 12, 'Alien: Earth' tells the story of the spaceship Maginot crashing on Earth with a Xenomorph sample. The first episode was unveiled at Comic-Con, receiving a warm response from the audience, and iconic elements of the franchise, from Xenomorphs to synthetics, hybrids, and facehuggers, will be featured.
Produced in a prequel format, this work is expected to showcase all the elements beloved by fans of the Alien series on a new stage, Earth, heightening anticipation.

'Predator: Badlands': A Unique Setting for Sci-Fi Action
'Predator: Badlands' follows young Predator outcast Deck and synthetic Sia as they form an alliance to survive on a dangerous remote planet. Interestingly, the idea of the Predator transporting an android is said to be inspired by the scene in 'The Empire Strikes Back' where Chewbacca carries C-3PO.
Additionally, it has been noted that the project draws inspiration from popular games such as 'Shadow of the Colossus', 'Half-Life 2', 'Uncharted', and 'God of War', making it a work that is expected to inject new vitality into the long-standing franchise.
'IT: Welcome to Derry': Exploring the Origins of Horror
Set to be released in October 2025, 'IT: Welcome to Derry' is gaining attention as a prequel that is just as terrifying as the original. The footage revealed at Comic-Con explores how the IT entity came to take on the form of Pennywise the Clown, set in 1962.
Future seasons are planned to show a deeper past of this twisted universe created by Stephen King, signaling another nightmare for fans of the horror genre.
'Project Hail Mary': Ryan Gosling's Cosmic Narrative
One of the most anticipated works at Comic-Con, 'Project Hail Mary' is based on the novel by Andy Weir, the author of 'The Martian'. It tells the story of teacher Ryland Grace, played by Ryan Gosling, who is sent on a space mission to save Earth from a cosmic threat.
Notably, the first reveal of the alien character 'Rocky' received enthusiastic cheers from fans, and all signs suggest that this film will be a special work as it awaits its release on March 20 next year.

'Gen V Season 2': Expanding the Boys Universe
Set to premiere on September 7, 'Gen V Season 2' offers fans of 'The Boys' a chance to reunite with beloved characters such as Starlight, Black Noir, and The Deep. Additionally, Eden Slater's surprise casting as Thomas Godolkin has generated buzz.
With IGN giving season 1 a score of 8/10 and stating that 'Prime Video hit the jackpot', it is recognized as a spin-off that perfectly maintains the continuity of the existing universe while being an independent series.
'King of the Hill': A Comeback After 15 Years
Returning with a new season on August 4, 'King of the Hill' unveiled its second episode, 'The Beer Story', at Comic-Con. The story follows retired Hank as he begins brewing beer at home, showcasing how the Allen area has changed (and hasn't changed) over the past 15 years.
The production team revealed that while there will be more swearing in the revival version, 'propane is still the main character', and they explained their casting decisions for cultural authenticity.
'God of War TV Series': Bringing the Emotion of the Game to the Screen
The 'God of War' TV series, currently being adapted for Prime Video, has reassured fans that showrunner Ronald D. Moore is 'working to recreate the tone of the game'.
Careful attention is being paid to give sufficient weight to both Kratos and Atreus, and it is said that the father-son relationship will remain central to the series. Moore's involvement, with a background in 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', 'Deep Space Nine', and 'Battlestar Galactica', shows that this project is in trustworthy hands.
