Ridley Scott Returns With 〈Dog Star: Last Hope〉; Film Opens in Korea on Aug. 26

Ridley Scott's new film 〈Dog Star: Last Hope〉 (The Dog Stars) will open in South Korea on Aug. 26. The Walt Disney Company Korea, the film's importer and distributor, unveiled the final trailer on Aug. 4, showcasing the film's sweeping post-apocalyptic world.

Based on the popular novel of the same name, 〈Dog Star: Last Hope〉 is a survival drama set in a ruined world where civilization collapsed after a cataclysm. The story follows Hig, a pilot (Jacob Elordi) who, after losing his pregnant wife, barely survives with his dog Jasper. When he picks up a mysterious radio transmission, he sets out in search of new hope. Despite warnings from his only neighbor, Bangley (Josh Brolin), Hig follows the signal to its point of origin and meets survivors from another area: Sima (Margaret Qualley) and Pops (Guy Pearce). Their encounters help him rediscover a sense of human connection, but they ultimately face off in a final battle against a savage group of survivors.

Ridley Scott, whose reputation was established by the Alien series, The Martian, Gladiator and Black Hawk Down, brings his trademark meticulous direction and powerful visuals to the film's depiction of a post-apocalyptic world. Scott, known for exploring humanity and solidarity under extreme conditions, said the film is "My best film since The Martian."

Leading the cast is rising star Jacob Elordi as Hig, joined by Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney and Guy Pearce. Ridley Scott's latest sci-fi survival film, 〈Dog Star: Last Hope〉, opens in theaters nationwide on Aug. 26.
