Arin, a member of the girl group Oh My Girl, attempted an acting transformation into a dark and complex character, the complete opposite of her existing image, through the Wavve original drama 〈S-Line〉.
At a press conference held on the 28th at the Yeouido Post Tower in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, Arin said, "Since the character has a lonely and dark side, I thought I could show a new side of myself." She added, "There were reactions where people said they had no idea I was Oh My Girl's Arin when they saw Hyunheup, and I felt good thinking that I expressed this character well."
The character Hyunheup, played by Arin in the drama, has a special ability to see a red line called 'S-Line' that connects people who have had sexual relations, invisible to others. She is portrayed as a lonely and wounded character who became a hikikomori due to the shock of drawing a red line between her aunt and father in a family drawing during her childhood, leading to family breakdown.
Unlike the bright and active image she showed as a member of Oh My Girl, in the drama, Arin created a gloomy appearance with a short, choppy haircut as if cut with scissors at home, and pale skin with visible blemishes. Arin explained, "The director had a clear image in mind for Hyunheup, and I didn't think it was a waste since I could always reattach my hair."
While filming this bold-themed work, Arin reported that she gained various new experiences. She said, "Scenes like fighting with friends on the rooftop and underwater filming were new attempts for me," adding, "Through this work, I felt like I wanted to challenge myself with genre pieces and new characters."

〈S-Line〉 was invited to the long feature competition section of the Cannes International Series Festival this year and achieved the honor of winning a music award. Arin expressed, "Cannes felt so far away, but thanks to the good work 〈S-Line〉, I was able to reach it," and added, "I remember the moment when they applauded after the screening there. It all felt like a dream."
Currently, Arin is meeting viewers by playing a bright and lovely character, the complete opposite of 〈S-Line〉, in the KBS 2TV Wednesday-Thursday drama 〈My Girlfriend is a Snob〉. She shared her future plans, saying, "I plan to continue balancing my activities with Oh My Girl and acting, and I want to strengthen both individually and as a team so that fans won't have any worries."
On the same day, director Ahn Joo-young, who attended the interview, explained the directing process of 〈S-Line〉. For director Ahn, who has mainly worked on films like 〈A Boy and Sungreen〉 and 〈Cartwheel〉, 〈S-Line〉 is her first drama directing project. She emphasized that she is a fan of the original webtoon and said, "It was so much fun to be able to create an attractive material into a drama and to show this setting in various ways."
Director Ahn explained that since the drama deals with a prequel to the original work, the ending was predetermined from the beginning. She acknowledged that she has received many critiques about the process being somewhat rushed and the explanations being unkind, especially regarding the transition from the realistic stories in parts 1 to 5 to the excessive fantasy settings in part 6.
However, director Ahn urged viewers to engage actively through their imagination. She said, "We are curious about others' private lives or personal matters, while at the same time, we are reluctant to show our own privacy," and added, "I hope viewers can imagine what might happen when privacy is revealed."
