The reboot of 'The Naked Gun' starring Liam Neeson is receiving praise as a parody comedy.
This film is a rebirth of the popular comedy series originally starring Leslie Nielsen, with Neeson playing the role of Frank Drebin Jr. Drebin Jr. is the son of LA police officer Frank Drebin Sr., portrayed by Nielsen.
Akiva Schaffer directed the film, and Dan Gregor and Doug Mand co-wrote the screenplay. It has been reported that David Zucker, the co-creator of the original series and the film 'Airplane!', expressed dissatisfaction with this new version.
Neeson plays a detective who is haunted by the legacy of his deceased father. He delivers a monologue pleading for his father's presence to send a signal, asking for an 'owl or something'.
Paul Walter Hauser plays Captain Ed Hocken Jr., Drebin's reliable partner. This character is the son of Drebin Sr.'s partner, originally played by George Kennedy.

The story revolves around the investigation of a murder case involving a man found dead in the driver's seat of a high-tech electric car. Drebin must confront the sinister plutocrat who invented the vehicle, played by Danny Huston.
Drebin falls in love with the victim's sister, Beth, who is portrayed by Pamela Anderson as a true crime novelist.
This new 'The Naked Gun' captures the feel of 1980s LA action films and is said to evoke nostalgia for 'Beverly Hills Cop' and 'Terminator'. The romance between Frank and Beth is depicted in a winter sports-themed pop video that Wham! fans would enjoy.
The film includes parodies of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Sex and the City', along with references to O.J. Simpson, who appeared in the original film.
According to reviews, Neeson delivers a perfect deadpan performance, but Nielsen's quirky innocence is somewhat lacking. Nevertheless, this reboot is regarded as a silly yet entertaining work.
'The Naked Gun' is set to release in the UK and the US on August 1, and in Australia on August 21.
