‘Obsession’ Surpasses 700,000 Admissions, Fueled by Buzz and Repeat Viewings!

The film follows the horrifying love story of a man and woman who become a couple after spending the night wishing upon the “One Wish Willow,” a stick that grants any wish.

The film 〈Obsession〉 has surpassed 700,000 admissions and continues its strong run at the box office. According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system, 〈Obsession〉 recorded 701,713 admissions as of 6:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, crossing the 700,000 mark. After surpassing 500,000 admissions on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and steadily adding milestones at 600,000 and 700,000, 〈Obsession〉 is maintaining its momentum despite competition from new releases and is now gaining traction for a long theatrical run.

In particular, 〈Obsession〉 is driving repeat viewings because it continues to give audiences something to discuss after the credits roll. Viewers keep finding new details to explore and debate, from the choices made by Nicky and Bear and the way those choices change their relationship, to the various interpretations of Nicky’s situation after the ending, as well as behind-the-scenes stories about how the production overcame its low-budget limitations with inventive ideas. While it is unusual for a horror film that leaves such a powerful impression after a single viewing to inspire this kind of spontaneous demand for multiple viewings, 〈Obsession〉 has surpassed 700,000 admissions, prompting close attention to how far its popularity will extend among audiences in South Korea.
