‘Made in Korea Season 2’ Reveals Defining Moments and the Cast’s Favorite Scenes!

The noir drama 〈Made in Korea Season 2〉, which follows Baek Ki-tae’s perilous journey as he hurtles toward even greater ambition nine years later, has offered a variety of behind-the-scenes stories, giving viewers a fresh way to enjoy the series.

First, viewers will be intrigued by the decalcomania-style scenes newly reimagined in configurations similar to those in Season 1. In one scene, Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin) tells a subordinate that decency is the most basic virtue a person should have, recalling the scene in Season 1 in which he issued a chilling warning to Kang Dae-il (Kang Gil-woo). In another, Jang Geon-young (Jung Woo-sung) shares gukbap and soju with Baek Ki-hyun (Woo Do-hwan) to pressure him, evoking the Season 1 scene in which Jang Geon-young shared soju with Baek Ki-tae in the prosecutor’s office as the two engaged in a battle of wills. Director Woo Min-ho explained the thinking behind the scenes linking the two seasons, saying, “I thought it would be good if viewers naturally thought back to Season 1. I believed it would be interesting to recreate scenes they had seen in a similar way while directing them with a different feel.” He also highlighted Pyo Hak-soo, who returns with a striking new look, as another point to watch, saying, “In Season 1, we gave Hwang Guk-pyeong’s (Park Yong-woo) wig and glasses to Pyo Hak-soo (Roh Jae-won). I think it will also be quite fun to see him wearing them.” Jung Woo-sung, Jung Sung-il and Roh Jae-won have also identified Pyo Hak-soo’s transformation and performance as highlights to anticipate in Season 2, adding to the enjoyment of discovering how the returning characters have changed.

The expanded story of Baek Ki-tae’s family also draws viewers deeper into the series. Their relationship, which showed tender affection in Season 1, stands on the brink nine years later, raising questions about where the family conflict will lead. Hyun Bin revealed his complicated feelings about the changed relationships, saying, “It was heartbreaking and I felt sorry that Baek So-young (Chae Hee), one of the family members Baek Ki-tae cherished, had come to resemble Kang Dae-il. The family scenes were difficult.” Woo Do-hwan added, “Baek Ki-hyun must have thought that his older brother, Baek Ki-tae, had ruined the happy family they once had, and now he also has to protect his niece or nephew,” heightening curiosity about the choice Baek Ki-hyun will make. Speaking about Chae Hee, he added, “She seems like someone who acts instinctively. She creates changes extremely well, and her past and present selves shift dramatically,” praising her nuanced performance as she moves between the past and present.

Meanwhile, Hyun Bin and Woo Do-hwan chose the ending sequence that brings the series to a close as the scene they are most looking forward to. Hyun Bin expressed anticipation for the sequence, saying, “A situation of pursuit and escape continues without dialogue,” as the scene builds tension through movement and circumstances alone. Woo Do-hwan added, “I think viewers may find the final scene the most shocking,” focusing attention on the ending that awaits the two brothers.
