After sweeping the world last year and clinching No. 1 in global viewership ratings for ‘Disney+’ Korea’s original content, ‘Made in Korea’ finally returns with a second installment. Walt Disney Company Korea said it will officially unveil ‘Made in Korea 2’ with a simultaneous global premiere on Sept. 9 next month, signaling the return of a well-crafted noir.

The first work, which cut through the turbulent 1970s, portrayed the nail-biting bloodshed between Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin)—who works as a National Intelligence Service agent by day and as a smuggler by night—and Jang Geon-young (Jung Woo-sung), a relentless prosecutor who hunts him down. With overwhelming immersion and a solid narrative, it earned praise from critics both at home and abroad and raised the profile of K-content.

Season 2, newly unveiled, spotlights the point exactly 9 years after the ending of the first installment. The ongoing confrontation between Baek Ki-tae—who, after a fierce struggle behind the scenes, finally stands atop the seat of power—and Jang Geon-young, who has spent years preparing a counterattack, is expected to unearth a vast web of dark forces behind the era, going beyond a simple revenge drama.

In particular, the season’s strongest variable is the arrival of fresh blood. Woo Do-hwan was cast on the spot as Baek Ki-hyeon, a soldier aiming for the very top of power on a completely different trajectory from his brother Ki-tae. With that, the story of red-blooded desire that the three men will forge together is entering an even more unpredictable phase, driving global viewers’ expectations to their peak.
