World-renowned master director Lee Chang-dong is teaming up with the global streaming platform Netflix to produce a new film.
On the 5th, Netflix officially announced that top domestic actors Jeon Do-yeon, Sol Kyung-gu, Jo In-sung, and Jo Yeo-jeong will star in Lee Chang-dong's upcoming film 〈Possible Love〉. This work depicts the process in which two couples, living completely opposite lives, become entangled, leading to unexpected cracks in their ordinary daily lives.
Jeon Do-yeon gained international fame by winning the Best Actress award at the 60th Cannes Film Festival for Lee Chang-dong's film 〈Secret Sunshine〉 (2007), and she collaborates with the director once again. In this film, she plays the role of Mi-ok, hinting at another transformation in her acting.
Sol Kyung-gu has been cast as Mi-ok's husband Ho-seok, following his roles in 〈A Peppermint Candy〉 (2000) and 〈Oasis〉 (2002). Notably, Jeon Do-yeon and Sol Kyung-gu will be acting together on screen for the fourth time after 〈I Wish I Had a Wife〉 (2001), 〈Birthday〉 (2019), and 〈Kill Boksoon〉 (2023).
The contrasting couple roles to Mi-ok and Ho-seok will be played by Jo In-sung and Jo Yeo-jeong. Jo In-sung will portray Sang-woo, while Jo Yeo-jeong will play Ye-ji, contributing to the complex relationships in the film.
The composition of the production team is also noteworthy. Writer Oh Jung-mi, who co-wrote Lee Chang-dong's previous film 〈BURNING〉 (2018), will participate in the screenplay for this project as well. The production will be handled by Finecut, which successfully completed 〈BURNING〉.
