Netflix 'Squid Game' Wins 6 Awards at the American Gold Derby TV Awards!

Netflix original series 〈Squid Game〉 has achieved overwhelming success at the Gold Derby TV Awards, a major American pop culture awards ceremony, once again proving the global status of Korean content.

According to the results of the '2025 Gold Derby TV Awards' announced on the 19th (Korean time) by Gold Derby, a media outlet specializing in award predictions, 〈Squid Game〉 achieved the remarkable feat of winning in 6 categories. This awards ceremony was held for broadcast content and films released from 2024 to 2025.

The most notable achievement is winning Best Drama Series. This is interpreted as recognition of the overall quality and artistic merit of the work. Additionally, it showed remarkable achievements in individual acting categories.

The Best Actor in a Drama category was awarded to Lee Jung-jae for his role as Seong Gi-hun. Lee Jung-jae received acclaim from international audiences for delicately portraying the complex character in seasons 2 and 3 following season 1.

The Best Supporting Actress award went to Kang Ae-sim for her role as Jang Geum-ja. The Best Supporting Actor award was given to Choi Seung-hyun (Big Bang T.O.P) for his role as Thanos. Choi Seung-hyun, who attempted a transformation from idol to actor, was praised for convincingly portraying a drug addict character in the series.

The Special Appearance Actor award was won by Gong Yoo for his role as 'Ddakji Man'. Despite a relatively short appearance, Gong Yoo left a strong impression and deeply resonated with viewers. 〈Squid Game〉 also received the Ensemble of the Year award.

This award is analyzed as a result of the follow-up series to 〈Squid Game〉 season 1, considering that season 2 was released last December and season 3 in June this year. It shows that the subsequent seasons continue to receive high praise following the global phenomenon of season 1.
