The elegant psychological drama directed by Christian Petzold and starring Paula Beer, 〈Mirror Number 3〉, has confirmed its release on October 1 and has unveiled four press stills for the first time. 〈Mirror Number 3〉 is a mysterious psychological drama that unfolds as middle-aged woman Betty (Barbara Auer) rescues and cares for Laura (Paula Beer), who miraculously survives a car accident. Director Christian Petzold elegantly explores the cracks and reconstruction of life that occur after disaster and loss. While his previous works 〈Undine〉 and 〈Afire〉 each themed around water and fire, this film is set against the backdrop of a windy plain and home, depicting wind as a metaphor for loss and emptiness, thus concluding the director's elemental trilogy. The title borrows directly from the third piece of the piano series 'Miroirs' by the label, titled "A Piece of Boat on the Sea." This piece, which flows throughout the film, serves as an important device revealing the characters' inner selves, and the beautiful sight of Paula Beer playing the piano adds further brilliance to the work.

Having premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival's Directors' Fortnight, 〈Mirror Number 3〉 has received rave reviews from major media and film festivals worldwide. "The pinnacle of true direction" (LeMonde), "A fluid, melodic, and simultaneously mysterious film" (Little White Lies), "A fairy tale and a nightmarish psychological drama achieved with the director's unique elegance and simplicity" (Toronto International Film Festival), "The magical chemistry between Petzold and Beer" (Indiewire), "Suspense melts into the golden late summer air" (BFI), "A work completed with the restraint and elegance we expect from Petzold" (The Hollywood Reporter), "The essence of Petzold's refined direction" (Cineuropa) are among the praises that once again prove Petzold's stature as one of the greatest masters of 21st-century German cinema.

The four stills released capture the moments of Laura, who survived the accident, and Betty, who cares for her, against the backdrop of golden late summer fields. In the first image, Paula Beer gazes meaningfully at Betty while sitting in a red convertible. The second shows Betty supporting Laura immediately after the accident, and the third depicts the two smiling as they ride bicycles across the fields. The final fourth still captures the captivating figure of Paula Beer sitting on a balcony, gazing into the distance.

This work marks the fourth collaboration between director Petzold and Paula Beer. She has portrayed a ghostly refugee in 〈Transit〉, a mysterious water spirit in 〈Undine〉, and a delicate yet strong 'Nadia' in 〈Afire〉, and in this film, she exudes a captivating presence that seems to overlap all those aspects. Director Petzold, who has explored the drama of identity in films like 〈Phoenix〉 and 〈Transit〉, is expected to unravel his themes within the confines of 'family' this time.
