Director Yoon Ga-eun of 'The World of Love' says, "Why cast rookie Seo Soo-bin? Thanks to her ordinary yet strange vitality"

Director Yoon Ga-eun revealed the reason for casting rookie Seo Soo-bin as the protagonist.

The film 〈The World of Love〉 is set to be released on the 22nd and was first unveiled to domestic reporters at a press screening held at CGV Yongsan I-Park on the afternoon of the 15th, followed by a press conference attended by director Yoon Ga-eun, Seo Soo-bin, and actress Jang Hye-jin.

〈The World of Love〉 tells the story of an enigmatic eighteen-year-old high school girl 'Joo-in' (Seo Soo-bin) who refuses to participate in a signature campaign involving the entire student body and begins to receive mysterious notes. The film is the latest work by director Yoon Ga-eun, known for 〈Our Body〉 and 〈Our Home〉, and it is the first and only Korean film invited to the competition section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival.

Rookie Seo Soo-bin, who was cast as the protagonist Joo-in, had almost no experience acting in front of a camera, yet after its first screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, she garnered praise for her 'astonishing acting skills', signaling the birth of a new actress. Director Yoon explained her choice of Seo Soo-bin as the lead, stating, "I thought she was ordinary, but her eyes were very alive, she was very honest, and she told the story slowly and calmly according to her beliefs and breath, and although she was very ordinary, there was a very strange vitality that was felt," mentioning the similarities between Joo-in and Seo Soo-bin.

Actress Seo Soo-bin spoke about her first meeting with director Yoon Ga-eun, saying, "I was really a big fan of the director even before meeting her for this project, so I was very happy when I heard that I would have a meeting with her at first." She also shared, "At first, I wanted to show myself to the director. I didn't want her to regret casting me, so I was eager to show myself, but the director often told me, 'Don't try to show off, and really listen and really see.'"

Director Yoon Ga-eun's new film 〈The World of Love〉 will be released on October 22.
