〈Chef of Antarctica〉 has revealed its broadcast date in November.
〈Chef of Antarctica〉 is a variety program co-produced by MBC and LG Uplus STUDIO X+U, capturing the process of serving a warm meal to the wintering members who are isolated in the harsh Antarctic environment. After over a year of continuing the project with sincerity, Baek Jong-won, one of the participants, faced several controversies, delaying the public release.
The program, 〈Chef of Antarctica〉, will premiere on November 17. The leading producer, Hwang Soon-kyu, explained, "The most interesting part is not 'cooking' but 'the unique worldview of Antarctica,' as it tells the stories of humans fighting against the climate crisis in extreme environments." The program aims to address the stories of Antarctica and its people as a place where cooperation and exchange occur under the common goal of climate crisis and survival.
Hwang Soon-kyu stated that the production team seriously discussed the controversies surrounding Baek Jong-won, saying, "〈Chef of Antarctica〉 is not a 'cooking show' where the participants are the main characters. It is a climate environment project that explores the meaning of coexistence between humans and nature in the extreme environment of Antarctica, so we deemed it important to properly convey its essential value to the viewers. Keeping promises with various national scientific station officials who cooperated for the filming at the Antarctic base, as well as the numerous staff and partners who participated in the production despite the harsh environment, was also one of the important reasons for explaining the purpose of the program's airing."
〈Chef of Antarctica〉 features Baek Jong-won along with actors Im Soo-hyang, Chae Jong-hyeop, and EXO's Suho.
