Actor Jinsung-kyu showcased a strong chemistry with Yoon Kyung-sang in the work 〈UDT: Our Neighborhood Special Forces〉, reuniting after 8 years. In an interview held at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 10th, he expressed his affection for the work and his determination as an actor.

Jinsung-kyu and Yoon Kyung-sang joined forces again in this Coupang Play action-comedy drama 〈UDT: Our Neighborhood Special Forces〉 after appearing together in the 2017 film 〈Crime City〉. Jinsung-kyu stated about his chemistry with Yoon Kyung-sang, "I immediately said I would participate because Kyung-sang was doing it. I waited 8 years wanting to work together, so there was no way our chemistry could be bad."

The two actors, who felt a connection since filming the movie, displayed excellent chemistry in this work as well. Jinsung-kyu recalled, "With Kyung-sang, it wasn’t just about acting chemistry; we really matched well as people. I thought that if good actors, including Kyung-sang, joined, we could achieve anything together."

〈UDT: Our Neighborhood Special Forces〉 is set in Changri-dong, Giyun City, depicting the process of residents who served in the military coming together to solve a series of incidents suspected to be terrorist attacks. The story unfolds interestingly as the residents utilize their respective expertise, such as special operations forces and technical soldiers, to protect their neighborhood.

Jinsung-kyu passionately played the role of Gwak Byeong-nam, the president of the youth association in Changri-dong. He described his character as "someone who has a love for the neighborhood, neighbors, and children," adding, "There weren’t many action scenes, but I enjoyed the scenes where I created weapons to help with the action like MacGyver."

In the drama, Gwak Byeong-nam humorously bickers with the newly moved insurance investigator Choi Gang (Yoon Kyung-sang) while showcasing his skills as a former technical soldier, earning the audience's response.

Jinsung-kyu emphasized the strong bond among the actors as the driving force of the work. He also collaborated with his college alumnus and fellow actor Kim Ji-hyun from the theater troupe 'Performance Delivery Service Ganda' in this project.

He shared, "The bond among the actors was so strong that we exchanged words about not wanting to part ways after filming. It felt like a dream come true to act together after saying, 'It would be great to do a drama together' while performing in Daehangno, leaving a deep memory."

Having completed filming in a good atmosphere, Jinsung-kyu expressed a strong desire for 〈UDT Season 2〉. He conveyed his hope to continue the flow with new stories, as the work received positive reactions from his elementary school daughter and those around him.

Jinsung-kyu emphasized, "My daughter said I looked cute with the mustache I wore in the work. If we do Season 2, I’m confident I can take responsibility for the ratings."

Having spent a busy year balancing theater regional performances and drama appearances, Jinsung-kyu showcased his diverse charm by appearing in supporting roles in 〈Aema〉 and 〈Typhoon Company〉 in the second half of the year.

He expressed, "I was lucky to show a multi-layered appearance by switching between villain and hero roles. Receiving feedback on those aspects made me feel rewarded as an actor, which was meaningful."

He stated that his goal is to perform in a way that highlights others rather than showcasing his own skills, and he shared that he learned a lot from the recently deceased actor Lee Soon-jae.

"When Lee Soon-jae received the acting award and said, 'I owe a lot to you,' I felt a lot. I want to be an actor who learns from those around me and considers others," he revealed.

Finally, Jinsung-kyu humbly stated, "I feel like I am a person with many shortcomings, but I think I am filling those shortcomings through the people I meet. I believe that if I continue to receive help and show consideration, I will become a better actor."
