The psychological thriller 'The Housemaid' is returning with a sequel. Lead actor Sydney Sweeney and director Paul Feig will collaborate once again.

On the 7th (local time), Lionsgate announced in an official statement on the 6th, "Thanks to the success of the film, we have confirmed the production of the sequel 'The Housemaid's Secret'."

◆ A Sequel Born from Box Office Success... "The Audience Wanted It"

Released on December 19, 2025, 'The Housemaid' has grossed over $133 million (approximately 189 billion KRW) worldwide, marking a 'surprise hit'. Adam Fogelson, chairman of Lionsgate, stated, "The box office and social media reactions are clear. The audience wants to know Millie's next story," explaining the background of the production.

The sequel is based on the second novel of the bestselling trilogy by Frida McFadden. Rebecca Sonnenstein, who wrote the script for the first film, will pen the script again, with full production set to begin in 2026.

◆ Sydney Sweeney & Michele Morrone Likely to Return

Sydney Sweeney, who plays the lead role of 'Millie Calloway', has confirmed her return for the sequel. Additionally, Michele Morrone, who left a strong impression as 'Enzo Accardi' in the first film, is also expected to join. Director Paul Feig expressed, "Frida McFadden has already done a wonderful job expanding Millie's journey in the original work," and added, "I am thrilled to reunite with an incredible production team."

◆ Amanda Seyfried's 'Spoiler'

Amanda Seyfried, who played the landlord 'Nina' in the first film, recently hinted at the sequel's production at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Despite the official announcement not being made yet, she teased, "The sequel is definitely happening," and added, "It's a story where Sydney works for a new family, and especially a lot will happen with Michele (Enzo)," raising fans' expectations.

Millie, the housekeeper who survived by uncovering the secrets of the wealthy Winchester couple. She is expected to face another 'dangerous game' in her new home, which will be seen on screens around 2027.
