'Squid Game' Season 3 Nominated for Stunt Category at SAG Awards

The Netflix original drama 〈Squid Game〉 Season 3 has been nominated for the Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series at the SAG Awards, selected by the American Actors Guild.

According to the list of nominees for the 32nd Actor Awards announced on the 7th (local time) by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), 〈Squid Game〉 is one of the five nominees for the Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series.

The competing works include 〈Stranger Things〉 (Netflix), 〈Andor〉 (Disney+), 〈The Last of Us〉 (HBO), and 〈Landman〉 (Paramount+).

This awards ceremony was previously held under the name SAG Awards until last year, and it has been awarding the stunt action performance award separately from the main and supporting acting awards for individual actors in both film and television categories.

〈Squid Game〉 was selected as the winner in the same category for Season 1 in 2022. At that ceremony, Lee Jung-jae won the Best Actor award, and Jung Ho-yeon won the Best Actress award, achieving a total of three awards for 〈Squid Game〉.

The nominees for the key category of the film cast award this year include 〈One Battle After Another〉, 〈Frankenstein〉, 〈Hamnet〉, 〈Marty Supreme〉, and 〈Cynus: The Sinners〉.

In particular, 〈One Battle After Another〉 has been nominated in a total of seven categories, including Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Best Actress (Chase Infinity), breaking the record for the most nominations ever.

The Actor Awards ceremony has been regarded as one of the key indicators for predicting the Academy Awards (Oscars) because actors make up the largest proportion of the entire Academy membership.

However, AP News analyzed that SAG-AFTRA tends to have a strong popular inclination and a lower preference for non-English language nominees.

The 32nd Actor Awards ceremony will be held on March 1 and will be live-streamed on Netflix.
