Ryu Hyun-kyung's 'self-sufficiency' system is shining.
According to Ryu Ne (Ryu Hyun-kyung) on the 15th, the film 〈Don't Confess〉 has reached the break-even point at the box office since its release. This achievement was made without large-scale promotion and marketing, and it is evaluated as a rare case where the creator directly took responsibility for distribution, leading to actual results through the 'self-sufficiency system'.
〈Don't Confess〉 is the first feature film directed by actress Ryu Hyun-kyung, and it is a one-person system film where she took on directing, producing, distributing, and acting all by herself. From the planning stage to filming, negotiations with theaters after release, and audience meetings (GV), Ryu Hyun-kyung directly managed every process as both planner and creator, continuing the release with almost no general promotion and marketing (P&A) costs.
Ryu Hyun-kyung achieved results by personally managing every process from the planning stage of the film to reaching the audience. She packaged the posters herself and delivered them to theaters and screening rooms, produced film merchandise by hand, and self-sufficiently handled all necessary tasks on-site. While it has become more common for actors to participate in creation as directors, it is rare for someone to handle the distribution and marketing process alone.
The film 〈Don't Confess〉 is currently being screened mainly in independent theaters.
