Group Cortis is solidifying its position on the global stage by partnering with the National Basketball Association (NBA). The agency Big Hit Music announced on the 18th (local time) that Cortis has been officially selected for NBA's ambassador program 'Friends of the NBA'.
'Friends of the NBA' is a program where the NBA collaborates with celebrities and influencers from the Asia-Pacific region to engage with fans worldwide. Following Le Sserafim and ENHYPEN, who previously participated in the program, Cortis will lead the intersection of sports and K-pop.
Through this collaboration, Cortis plans to engage in various activities beyond simple promotion, including attending NBA games and official events, and co-developing apparel and merchandise. Notably, the most eye-catching event is the 'NBA Crossover Concert Series' taking place on February 12 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in the United States. Cortis will perform as the headliner at this key event during NBA All-Star Week, meeting local fans.
Cortis stated, "Our music, which is not bound by conventions, shares a creative and challenging spirit with the NBA, and we are excited to meet fans through this special synergy where sports and culture intersect."
Wayne Chang, NBA's Asia General Director, also expressed, "Cortis's joining is a strong example of the powerful connection between sports and music," adding, "The commonalities of K-pop and the NBA, which possess passion, creativity, and a global fandom, will shine brightly."
