Son Ye-jin Takes on Historical Drama After 24 Years..."'Scandal' is a Series Where You Can See the Beautiful Scenery of the Joseon Era, Hanbok, and Hanok"

Son Ye-jin shared her thoughts on taking on a historical drama after a long time.

On January 21, Netflix successfully held the 'Next on Netflix 2026 Korea' event at the Conrad Seoul Hotel. The event featured key figures from major works of 2026, including Jeon Do-yeon from <Possible Love>, Nam Joo-hyuk from <Donggung>, Son Ye-jin from <Scandal>, Park Eun-bin from <Wonderfuls>, and Chef Ahn Seong-jae from <Black and White Chef>, who participated in a panel talk.

Actress Son Ye-jin stars in the series <Scandal> set to be released this year. <Scandal> tells the story of 'Lady Jo', who possesses exceptional talent and is trapped in a life confined to women, and 'Jo Won', the best romantic player of Joseon, as they engage in a daring and dangerous love bet, along with the woman entangled in that bet, 'Hee-yeon', featuring Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana.

During the panel talk, Son Ye-jin described <Scandal> as "a series that has been reborn from the film <Scandal: The Love Story of Men and Women>, which is based on the French classic novel <Dangerous Liaisons>. I play the role of 'Lady Jo', who engages in a daring and dangerous love bet, and since it is set in the Joseon era, you can see the beautiful scenery of the Joseon era, Hanbok, and Hanok. The visuals are delicately captured with restrained colors and negative space based on historical accuracy, showcasing the Korean aesthetic in the spatial sense of Hanok, which would be a point for global viewers to pay attention to in this K-historical drama." Additionally, Son Ye-jin revealed, "Historical dramas are very beautiful to watch, but maintaining a proper posture feels a bit awkward. I think maintaining beauty is really difficult."

The Netflix series <Scandal> is set to be released this year.
