JTBC's new Friday series 〈Shining〉 has heightened expectations for the broadcast by revealing the first script reading scene filled with the passionate enthusiasm and excitement of the main cast.
Set to premiere on March 6, 〈Shining〉 is a drama that depicts the process of youth sharing a world of their own, becoming a light that reflects trust and direction in life for each other. Written by Lee Sook-yeon, known for 〈On the Way to the Airport〉 and 〈Half of a Half〉, and directed by Kim Yoon-jin of 〈That Year We Were〉, it promises the birth of a lyrical and delicate emotional melodrama.
The Cold Conductor and Passionate Manager… The Bittersweet Reunion of Park Jin-young and Kim Min-ju
On this day, the script reading scene brought together the production team and youth actors Park Jin-young, Kim Min-ju, Shin Jae-ha, and Park Se-hyun, showcasing their perfect chemistry.
First, Park Jin-young, playing the subway conductor ‘Yeon Tae-seo’, led the atmosphere with calm and restrained emotional acting. Although he appears cold and indifferent on the outside, he delicately expressed the narrative of a character who holds onto the first love of his nineteen-year-old self deep within, enhancing the immersion.
Kim Min-ju, portraying the guesthouse manager ‘Mo Eun-a’, radiated a diverse charm that oscillated between the character's unique cheerfulness and maturity. She perfectly embodied the freshness of a nineteen-year-old who is unpredictable, as well as the hardened adult figure shaped by life's storms, earning praise from those on set.
Shin Jae-ha and Park Se-hyun Join In… The Intertwined Emotional Narrative of Four Youths
Shin Jae-ha and Park Se-hyun also added richness to the drama with their solid acting skills. Shin Jae-ha took on the role of the kind hotelier senior ‘Bae Seong-chan’, who quietly stays by Eun-a (played by Kim Min-ju), convincingly unraveling the hidden feelings of a tender unrequited love in a comfortable atmosphere.
Park Se-hyun, playing the tax accountant ‘Lim Ah-sol’, candidly expressed his long-standing affection for Tae-seo (played by Park Jin-young), injecting another layer of tension and fun into the drama. The special synergy created by the four actors hinted at the unique atmosphere of 〈Shining〉, encompassing everything from youthful memories to the matured moments of adulthood.
The production team stated, “Even just from the script reading, we could see the actors' passionate enthusiasm and special synergy.” They added, “Please look forward to the story of youth that will depict the brilliant yet bittersweet facets of first love.”
The new JTBC Friday series 〈Shining〉, which will awaken emotional cells, is set to premiere on March 6 at 8:50 PM, with episodes 1 and 2 airing consecutively.
